For over 20 years, Math-U-See has successfully taught students to understand and apply mathematical concepts.

Math-U-See is a complete K-12 math curriculum focused on homeschool and small group learning environments that uses manipulatives to illustrate and teach math concepts.

The Math-U-See curriculum is organized into levels, not grades, so that students can be placed and proceed according to individual ability. Students proceed at their own pace upon demonstrating mastery. Instruction is conducted individually or in small groups in order to obtain the maximum amount of growth for each student.

Demme Learning’s foundational principles are woven throughout the curriculum. As mastery is demonstrated, students proceed at their own pace through the levels in an organized, purposeful manner.

Math-U-See’s manipulatives are an integral part of the multi-sensory curriculum, enabling students to develop concrete understandings of mathematical concepts and build conceptual connections all the way from early number sense through quadratic equations. The instructional approach is balanced between open-ended discovery and guided explorations of mathematical concepts under direct adult guidance, with opportunities for instructor modeling and explicit instruction.

The concepts and lessons are designed to be taught by a parent or a professional instructor. Instruction is conducted individually or in small groups to maximize each student’s conceptual understanding. Instruction is best reinforced and practiced with the guidance of an engaged parent.

A unique approach to learning spelling.

Spelling You See incorporates a number of the Demme Learning distinguishing elements. A meaningful context for learning spelling is provided through a sequence of developmentally appropriate levels. Students demonstrate concept mastery before proceeding to the next level and are placed at understanding level rather than grade level. These characteristics allow student-paced instruction without arbitrary grade-level assignment, seemingly random spelling lists, or memorized phonics rules. Each level builds upon the foundational concepts mastered in the previous level, and varied learning styles are accommodated through the use of the multi-sensory instruction. And, as with all Demme Learning products, the engagement of a supportive parent is essential.

Strengthening the essential role of the family in the lives of children and parents.

The desire of Building Faith Families is to strengthen, teach, encourage, validate, and exhort parents and families to follow the biblical model for the Christian home. Steve Demme spent years working with youth as a teacher in schools (public and Christian); as a pastor and youth leader in churches; and as a counselor and camp director at summer camps. Based on this experience and that of other educational experts, the single most significant influence in a child’s life is that of his parents. Mentors and coaches have a valuable and influential role in the life of today’s youth, but you can’t replace Mom and Dad. Building Faith Families helps develop engaged parents — the common denominator in building a lifelong love of learning in a student.
